Malabarians are the defending champions and are grouped among Army Red, Assam Rifles and ISL side Hyderabad FC.
In the opening group ‘D’ encounter, Army Red had defeated Assam Rifles, 4-1, and tops the group.
GKFC head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese has named a strong squad for the
tournament.
GKFC have signed four foreigners, midfielder Sharif Mukhammad (Afghanistan), defender Aminou Bouba (Cameroon), strikers Rahim Osumanu (Ghana) and Elvis Chikatara (Nigeria).
The team also consists of 12 Kerala players. Two of them, Rishad PP and Abhijith K were promoted from GKFC developmental squad.
“Each game is a final to me. It is important for us to win the match and grab all three points. Army red is good in the attacking and defending phases. I believe this will be an interesting contest,” said GKFC head coach Vincenzo Alberto Annese.
